"Albatross" by Fleetwood Mac was a great song. They were a different band then, before Buckingham/Nicks joined.

Here's "Solitude," a sad, wistful ballad by...wait for it...Black Sabbath!

Pammie, I thank you for your kind thoughts but whatever I have posted here has not actually me.  Periol has (excellent and I thank you for sharing)  But thank you for thinking I actually have talent.
 grin

Pammie, here's some fiddle for ya.  This is one of my favorite songs ever from a band I had never heard of until about a month ago.  Some clean cut good lookin' virginia boys ripping it up.

Emeline.......   Its Really Ironic that you posted this this week, as I had pulled it up for my wife to watch...

I remember the first time I heard it, around 15 yrs ago (I wasn't a stones fan). I was on a dirt rode, just riding around when it came on, by the time I heard  "Pilate washed His hand and sealed his fate"

I knew who they were refering too.............
Sympathy For The Devil

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game I stuck around St. Petersberg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the Blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
What's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the Gods they made I shouted out
"Who killed the Kennedys?"
When after all
It was you and me Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadors
Who get killed before they reached Bombay Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature of my game Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, um yeah Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, um baby, get down

Wow periol, great work. Your voice is so rich.

Annie, oh ZZ Top, that’s such a cool song!

Peter, I’ve always thought the Stones really were/are an incredible band. I never much cared for the Beatles, sounded too much like white bread singing for me. The Stones were so edgy and much more original - and as for Jagger, well, ain’t he something’? Immensely talented. On Youtube there used to be another really old version of him singing it live and he sang it even better, but I always thought it was so funny on the other video, the clothes they wore and the way he pranced about - it was a real anachronism. I can’t find that one any more. I think they must have taken it down. Really classic stuff though. But some of the Stone’s ballads too …amazing.

The one and only Rolling Stones.  Fool To Cry.

I heard them perform this live at the Christchurch Town Hall, New Zealand - sheesh, it must have been when I was about 20 years old.  After the concert my ears hurt and I couldn't hear anything for about 2 days. surprise  I think it was soon after that the authorities stepped in and shot (metaphorically) any artists who exceeded certain decibel levels.

But damn, this is a fine song, always loved it.
